Slow cooker cookbooks reviews I m especially impressed that the recipes aren t the same old casseroles and braises that have been featured in every other crockpot cookbook This collection features numerous recipes with Southeast Asian South Asian Morrocan flavors among others in mind That actually be the cookbook s best feature in my opinion With the world becoming increasingly multi cultural I truly appreciate it when cookbook authors reach out beyond their usual comfort zones to see if other cuisines would benefit from the same treatment I ve made a lot of soups in my own slow cooker but it never occurred to me that I could also make Chinese hotpot p 27 or lentil dahl p 142 in it And I pay so much to go out to restaurants when I could make these dishes in my own apartment Score Even though I ve only viewed the cookbook as a digital copy I appreciate the number and detail of photographs of the finished dishes In 2012 I can t even imagine a cookbook without any photographs which I ve still seen recently I also like it that the publisher has decided to present the photos in full page view If the food is delicious it should be shown off I was planning to make several dishes before posting this review but I didn t want to put it off any further So far I ve made the Chinese Pork Belly p 69 and it was delicious I m a rice fiend so it took all of my self control not to wipe the crockpot clean with rice to get to the delicious sauce I feel that I will make many recipes from this cookbook especially now that it s full on crockpot weather here in the Northeast Beverly LeBlanc This cook book is an excellent addition to my crock pot book collection Being a single and busy woman my crock pot is like a child to me In this book there are plenty of yummy recipes ranging from simple crock pot basics to some truly exotic and unique recipes There are plenty of pictures of delectable dishes which always helps me decide what to cook You know the old saying We eat with our eyes first For me the mark of a good comprehensive cookbook is pretty pictures AND good recipes I tried out three recipes from the book Turkey Sweet Potato and Corn Chili Pork Paprikash and Winter Fruit Salad All were pretty easy to prepare with a reasonable amount of prepping under 30 minutes and were all tasty I only made one adjustment to any of the recipes which was throwing in a can of green chiles with the Chili I definitely plan on trying out many as well. Slow cooker recipe book There are a few pages in the front that have helpful information about the types of slow cookers crock pots available I found this to be informative and helpful Each recipe has a red dot at the top of the page with a number indicating the cooking time which made choosing a recipe on a time crunch a snap I thought it was great that a sizable amount of the recipes in the book are 4 5 cooking hours or less meaning I could run home on my lunch hour and prep them or even start cooking right after work for a late dinner If you love your slow cooker then you need this cookbook Its chock full of good and helpful information and inspiring new recipes I recieved this book from NetGalley thanks Beverly LeBlanc I Love My Slow Cooker isn t a life changing cookbook but I like it a lot I find most of my recipes online these days but I think LeBlanc s collection deserves a place alongside the other specialty cookbooks on my virtual bookshelf It s got the standard cookbook set up you can find general slow cooker info and some solid helpful tips in the beginning of the book I ve been using a slow cooker for a while and I still managed to find a few tidbits I could use Then onto the recipes The photos throughout this cookbook are very nice and the recipes themselves go outside the range of your the typical old fashioned slow cooker guide which pleased me immensely This one is full of things like Hot and Sour Duck and Mushroom Soup Vegetable and Cashew Red Curry and Vanilla and Pepper Poached Pears It also has plenty of the usual fare like Pulled Pork and a One Step Beef Stew I think anyone could find something to like but those who don t find dishes with non standard ingredients appealing won t get as big of a kick out of this book as a whole.
