Read with my Turkish host family s children This is such a lovely story of altruistic generosity although the adult in me kept expecting the elves to turn out evil 48 A shoemaker has only enough leather for one pair of shoes He retires for the night with the leather ready to be worked on in the morning To his surprise he comes down to his worktable to find a beautifully made pair of shoes already done He puts them in the window shop and is able to sell them for a handsome price Now with enough money to buy leather for two pairs of shoes he does the same thing With each consecutive night he discovers and masterfully crafted shoes in his shop His shop sells well now and he and his wife hide to see who it is that is secretly making all of his shoes It turns out to be two little elves Keen to repay them for their kindness the shoemaker s wife makes clothes for the two elvins How will they respond Perfect for little hands this edition of this old folktale is easy to read and the illustrations make this magical story come alive 48 I loved this story as a kid but I remember the longer version haha But this is great little short story that s a quick read and easy for a 3 year old to pay attention to before he gets distracted This is just a simple book all the way down to the illustrations which is great for those with little ones 48 This little book was adorable I would use this story to talk about fairy tales in general You could also use this to talk about elves around Christmas and that they help people than Santa 48
